When did the SFAAF begin?
The fund was founded in 2007 to commemorate the life and spirit of Andrew Christopher Stone, our adopted son.
What is the vision of the fund?
The SFAAF is an IRS approved non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity dedicated to the building of families through adoption funding.
When was the first grant awarded?
Our initial grant was awarded in 2008.
Who is eligible to receive a grant?
Any US citizen that is working through a licensed adoption agency, has a completed home study and has demonstrated financial need.
What size are the grants?
The grants range in size from $2,000 to $5,000 depending on the individual circumstances of the grantee.
How do I apply for a grant?
There are three steps to complete.
Fully complete the online application. Write a letter to the fund describing your adoption story and the financial need you are experiencing. Include two letters of reference.
When are grants issued?
The Executive Committee of the fund reviews applications on a quarterly basis.
Where does the SFAAF receive its financial support?
The fund receives contributions from individuals, foundations and corporations who want to further our mission of building families through adoption funding.
How much of my donation goes to help families?
Substantially all of it, except for the minimal operating expenses of the fund. There are no paid personnel, only volunteers.
